A Proven Track Record of Success

Tyler has dedicated his life to public service. Tyler realized early in life that he was determined to make a difference and support the greater good. His path was forged to give back to the community that had afforded him so much. He first ran for public office at 19 years-old and was elected to his hometown, Delran Township Council and now serves at one of the youngest Burlington County Commissioner on record.

Burlington County

Tyler currently serves as a Burlington County Commissioner, where he is one of the youngest on record (28 years old when first elected to his seat). While representing nearly half a million residents in the largest county in the state, Tyler uses his vigor and perspective to raise the bar. He strongly believes if we are not improving, we are behind.

During his short time on the Board, Tyler has delivered results: ensured Burlington County remains affordable with the lowest average county tax rate in NJ for the last 7 years; helped increase communication, outreach, and engagement with the monthly “Burlco Brief” video series addresses; started townhalls throughout the County; and authorized millions in open space preservation.

He is also the liaison to the Elections offices, Schools, and the Prosecutor’s office.

Delran Township’s 8 Years

In 2016 — then at the age of 19 in the primary and 20 in the general election — Tyler was elected as Delran Township Councilman At-Large. Serving as one of the youngest Councilman in New Jersey, Tyler used his age as an asset to bring a new perspective to the community. Tyler served on the Delran Council for two four-year terms, from 2016-2024, during which he served as the Council President for four years.  As Council President, Tyler led the legislative agenda and tempo of government.

During his tenure in Delran, Tyler pioneered transparency and modernized government services, by leading the charge live stream council meetings and created the Township’s first-ever Facebook page. Tyler fought to keep the community affordable by ensuring a zero-percent tax rate increase for 5 consecutive years.

One of the hallmarks of Tyler’s tenure was his commitment to revitalizing large-scale community events. Along with the Recreation Advisory Committee, Tyler was influential in developing and facilitating the Delran Winter Festival and Delran Night Out — which brought the first fireworks show to Delran after a nearly 20-year hiatus. These free events broke records, with crowds of nearly 6,000 residents.

In addition, Tyler was at the helm following during his term:

  • Four years of zero tax increase (2020-2024), all while increasing services
  • Adopted a no-knock ordinance to prevent unwanted solicitors
  • Dedicated to public safety, in 13 months period at Council President, Delran hired more police officers than the prior administration did over 13 years
  • Delran earned the prestigious “Tree City” designation, after rewriting and adopting the tree ordinance
  • Supported the Chicken Program, which allows residents to raise chickens
  • One of the first townships in NJ approve a community solar program.

Tyler previously served as the President of the Joint Board of Education for Burlington County Special Services School District (BCSSSD) & Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT).  Tyler was also the founding Vice President of the Delran Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for innovative projects in Delran schools.

Tyler is an advocate for youth in government. In an interview with the Delran Sun, Tyler argues for greater youth engagement in our nation’s issues:

For the youth that want to get involved, I would say that we are under-represented. We need our voice in the conversation. I encourage the youth to get involved, whether it’s in the council or a grassroots organization, get involved. It’s amazing what you’ll hear. Also, you can’t be scared to get involved. You have to use that fear as fuel and just jump in and make it happen.
